Back to the Sculptures

Well last year we went to our first Sculptures by the sea held at Cottesloe Beach and loved it so much that we went again this year. This was the forth year it has been held and seeing that it doesn't cost anything and the kiddies have a beaut time on the beach I reckon we will be going next year as well.
So we packed the van up and off we went for a beaut day on the sandy shores of the Cott! The sun was up and we were having a barmy day of about 32....... Beautiful. Well the first sculpture was one called 'Pythongsaurus' which looked a lot like a friggin' spider but what does yours truly know about art!

Then we were of down the hillside to the beach foreshore where we were found this one which I don't know what it is called or what it is made about , but it looked pretty beaut and reminded be of the backyard chairs we had growing up at Brighton ave so I will name it 'Pop's backyard chairs'.

Now the next one was pretty cool and if the kiddies get to touch it then they love it, so it got my kiddies award for the best Sculpture of the day. Again i'm not sure the name of this one so being the fact that it was a bunch of mirrors we might call it 'A bunch of mirrors', jes I just thought that one up i'm getting pretty quick in me old age!

So the next one on the list was this bunch of wooden poles in the sand, again I don't know the name of it but this is the sort of stuff that I can relate to..... a bit of wood bit of paint and something comes out at the end. So this one got my favorite Sculpture of the day, but probably didn't get in the top ten!

Now this one I can really relate to it's got this powerful yet fragile design which utilizes the beach culture and the pathway through life it's self. I don't know it's proper name but I like to call it 'Spunky sheilah in brown bikini laying next to sculpture'. What do you reckon. I can't blame Harrison for not looking at the camera this time, he was just having a bit of a gander at the scenery (chip of the old block).

And our final sculpture of the day was what I thought was real beaut, it was called 'Gathering' which was a bunch of wooden people (about twenty) standing in the sand. In the background you can see the world famous beaut looking Cottesloe Beach Hotel. And that was about it for the day we did see lots more sculptures but you can only put some many photos in a post hay. All up they had about fifty of the friggin' things all over the place, but I think we got the best ones on film.

Swan Districts

Carlton Draught WAFL Charity Cup

Well it was the last pre season cup match and the Black Ducks had made it to the Grand final against the much favorite side Subiaco Lions. The lions earned their berth with a massive shellacking of Peel Thunder by 129 points, while our Swans came away with a two point win over West Perth 97 to 95.

So I kicked the two kiddies (1 and 2) into old Fordie and set of for our first night match which was being played at Medibank Stadium in Leaderville, Perth.

This year we had boosted our list with new recruit Guy Richards which had been delisted by Collingwood, Andrew Krakouer (Richmond) and Mathrew Spencer which came back from Geelong. And of cause we had a beaut bunch of kiddies from the colt side which won the third grade Grand Final last year.

Between each quarter during the match you are able to go onto the field and have a kick around with your kiddies. Here is Sarah having a shot at goal in the second quarter break, as you can see we have a bit of work to do but at least shes giving it a go.

Well to make a long blog short we won the match and it was a frigging ripper, we lead all the way with 5 goals in the first quarter . Then stayed in front by 5 goals in the second. Then went to 7 goals in the third and run away in the end with a nine goal win, You little beauty!

Harrison's WA on show

well we couldn't leave poor old Harrison out could we, so after Sarah went on sunday to the WA on show with Tania I took Harrison on monday. First we took the train again to Perth then we went walkabout through the city, as you can see Harry just loves the tall buildings.

We walked around to different places as it was a national day off (Labour day) and most of the shops were shut, so we just did some window shopping. Then we came a pone the 'Dancing Man' sculpture which is in the mall, and here is Harrison saying G'day to the old fella.

There's just something about getting something for free, like here was Harrison getting free booklets, free bags, free lollys, free pens, free balloons free bickies and more and it was just so great..... oh yeah Harrison was having a great time too! We hit the stalls about tourism and WA townships and then we got to the kiddie rides and that was it as he had to give everything a go. First it was off to the Kiddie castle/ship which he got three gos on....
Then he jumped onto the frying UFO which he loved, as you can see.

Then he had a beaut go on the motorbikes, as you can see he needs a bit of work but not bad for a three year old hay.

Then after a few hours of riding bikes, jumping UFO's, bouncy boats and walking about getting stuff (these only so many pens a person can take). We walked outside the convetion centre and got a beaut shot with Harrison and the tall buildings behind him then we started the long walk back up through the city and back to the train station. And caught a train back to Middle swan and that was another big day in Perth for the little fella. And believe me he had a beaut nights sleep that night!
