Back to Northam

Well it has been about two years since i packed three of the little nevilles into Dora the commodore (which since, has gone to that commodore graveyard in Halls creek) and drove up to old Northam. That trip i had Jacko, Sarah and Harrison. But for the return trip we used old fordie, and found an empty seat for the little moptop Oscar.

The first think we hit was the playground, which is the main reason we drove up their in the first place. Their got a couple of playgrounds and the kiddies love it, here are two of them on the Union Land train with Oscar hiding which he loves doing (little mug).

Got him! The little fella doesn't like getting his photo taken, or he just likes giving the old man the run around. Which ever it is he does a beaut job of it, can you imagine having all three kiddies looking at the camera and getting the last little one to look at me. In fact the average is about one in five photos, all I can say is thank God for digital cameras!! On average I wipe away about twenty photos every outing which if I had to get them all developed, then get all shittie with the kids and then throw them out. Well I wouldn't take that many photos hay, so like I say thanks for digital.

Here is the little fella hanging out at the swings and as soon as I took this photo he saw me and turned around and started carrying on like a raw prawn, ha ha I got ya this time mate, also now you can see why I call him moptop hay. It can't be to long before one day he finds himself trapped in the bathroom with a shaver chaceing after him, then he'll be just one of the mob again.

Heres the mob all together hanging out with that strange horse in the park, Harrison didn't have the guts to get up on it but as you can see, it's as high as he can go for Jacko. Sarah was doing the right thing sitting on the saddle and little Oscar the grouch was chucking a wobbly, little bugger.

Then it was time for us to go walkabout along the Avon river (which becomes the Swan river as it gets closer to Perth), we crossed the river a bit further down then walked back up till we came to the pedestrian suspension bridge.

Here is a photo I took the last time we were up here in the bush and as you can see the little nevilles have changed a fair bit over that time, but as you can see I couldn't get the little red head to turn around.

Here we have the old photo of Jack, Sarah and Harrison on the suspension bridge, and no joke thay loved it. Even with the old fella giving the bridge a bit of a swing but all that did was make them laught! Strange kiddies my mob hay. And here is an updated photo we took yesterday, not only can you see that the kiddies have gotten a lot older but one of them don't really like suspension bridges ha,ha.
The poor little knee-biter was going off like a centipede on a hot plate! The other ones were making the bridge swing and i'm trying to stop them while trying to take a photo, and Oscar was having a cry and i'm trying not to laugh, well as they say 'Everything is funny as long as it is happening to somebody else'.

But as you can see he warmed to it after a bit and by the time we made it to the other side he was all smiles, but to see what would happen I said lets do it again and as I got to the bridge he started going off again so maybe not ha,ha. But we had a beaut time and the all the kiddies were happy and the picnic went down real quick. We had some hungry tummies after our walk and our next trip is to Toodyay as their got a beaut set of swings also, so we will see ya for now.

Yanchep

So when your mates are living on the other side of Australia in the hinterlands of the New England Rangers in the middle of May, with temps topping 15 and getting as low as -6 in the night. What do we Sandgropers get up to..... well how about a beaut barmy days outing to the beach! And for something a bit different we drove up to the beaut beach at Yanchep, which is one of the best beaches about. So with Fordie full of kiddies and one of the biggest packed picnics you will ever see, off towards Yanchep we go for a beaut days drive. Here we have the mob about to head down the stairs to the beach, four kiddies to look after I must have rocks in my head!

Oh Strewth i've already lost one!.... no I didn't I hand hold of Oscars hand as I didn't trust him going down the stairs. I reckon if he had hes chance he would run for about three steps then spend the rest of the time bumbling down the rest of the stairs till he hit the bottom. Come to think of it if I had the camera on movie mode and filmed him falling, then a quick edit of the film (taken out the bit of me pushing him) then send it to Australia's Funnest Videos, and you never know we might get a new fridge out of it!

Finally at the water and time to cool off, isn't that a nice little photo of three happy little shark biscuits. But where's the little fella I hear you ask.....

Well as soon as he saw the massive waves he lost his courage and he was off to the towels, and as for coming down with me, well he didn't have that much trust in me not to drop him into the water.... I wonder where he got that idea.

So here is a photo of Oscar after I dropped him in the water!

But after a while he started to get a little bit closer and closer till he went in up to his knees, and that was far enough for both of us to be happy.

Then after a fair while of the little nevilles swimming, jumping and running about it was time to get some tucker in our tummies, well even Duracell bunnies need to recharge their batteries. So it was time to leave the beach, climb the stair's and cross the quiet little road and down into the park. No joke this picnic area is one of the best parks I think me and the kiddies have found. It had picnic tables, B.B.Q's, swings a dunny and heaps of space for the little scallywags to run about and wear themselves out. And just to the side of the park there was a little sand track going to the top of the hill, so it didn't take long before all the kiddies started to wonder up the track. So poor old dad had to get his worn out butt up out of the park bench and follow the little mob up the track. And here is a photo from the very top of the hill, not a bad spot hay.

And finally here is a photo of Jacko, Sarah and Harrison at the top of the hill over looking Yanchep Beach. I tried but have you ever tried to get four kiddies to stand still together for a photo, I said that just in case your wondering what happen to the little fella Oscar. But it was a flamin' beaut day and the kiddies had a ball, and they can't wait for there next trip to the beach. Between the footy, bushwalking and the beach these friggin' kiddies are wearing me out, little buggers.

The Maze

Well the sun rose on a beaut and sunny Saturday morning and after a top bacon n' eggs brekky, we chucked the four kiddies into the Van 'Fordie' and off we set for a day's outing at the park named 'THE MAZE'. Well you know if i've got the whole bunch of them, then i'll have me hands full, and yes it turned out that way believe me mate.

The Maze is a kiddie fun park which covers 32 acres of Bullsbrook bush out in the middle of no-where, which has Birds, Kangas, Emus and a massive 2500m2 wooden maze as it's main feature. Here are the kiddies giving some poor old sod of a kanga, a little pat on the back. Fair dinkum i think they woke him up, but with the excitement meter getting high it was of to see the birds.

Well about what I expected, between you and me I think me old mans bird avery in the back yard at Brighton Ave was bigger then this. But the birdies looked happy with themself's.... poor sods.

Then it was time to hit the main attraction..... THE MAZE. Well it was a beaut big maze and with the No1 escape kiddie 'Oscar' locked up in the pram, off we trudged threw this old maze. The Maze is real beaut and after about seven minutes or so we made our way back to the start! So after a quick drink off we went back into the Maze and after a fair while we made it to the middle (which was the end). In the middle they had a beaut wooden tower which had a turning slide inside which shot you back down real quick. Here is a photo of the tower.

The little nevilles just loved the slide and without doubt it was the highlight of the day out, bugger I could of just taken them to a friggin' slide in a park and saved me bloody moolah.

But the kiddies just loved the slide as you can see Oscar and Jacko coming down, it was a big hit with Oscar as the one thing he loves in his little world is a slide. He has to work his little legs to get up the stairs but once up their theres only one way back down, and he doesn't wait a minute before setting his little nappy covered freckle on his way down.

So after going up and down the slide for about twenty minutes it was time to see the koala bears hang out, but unfortunately they were at their resting time so we could only look up in the trees and hope to see one. Yes you little beauty we caught a gander of one just having a bit of a kip so at least we got to see one.
From their we had a go at a couple of pine tree mazes and a little wooden maze, but that was about it because we had run out of time and had to hit the road. Yes they did have a mini golf which would of been fun but not with four little monsters, wanting to run in different directions with their putters in hand. So yes we did have a beaut time out and believe me the kiddies slept like a log that night.... well okay four little logs!
